Tourist places around Delhi for 7 days Itinerary

Hi Premila,
                     There can plenty of itineraries for 7 days around Delhi but I will rather be focusing on the key cities you wanted to travel. Here is the itinerary you can follow as per your picks... though all of your picks lies in different directions from Delhi....

9th April: Not sure which time you will be landing to Delhi but one day is not enough for a tour to Delhi... There are many heritage sites you can visit including Red fort, Qutab Minar, Humayun Tomb, Old fort etc... but besides those, I would recommend you to visit Hauz Khas village... you would definitely like to visit art galleries and emporiums there..

10th April: I assume that you visited some places in Delhi on 9th April.. On 10th morning, you can catch early morning Shatabdi express to Dehradun and then reach mussoorie till afternoon... mussoorie is a decent hill station but must be avoided on weekends due to heavy tourist inflow from Delhi.... In the evening you can visit Mall road and some other vantage points... enroute, you can do boating in mussoorie lake.

11th April: I will recommend you to visit Kempty waterfall early in the morning and then head back to Dehradun. From Dehradun, you need to catch another commutation to Ramgarh which is one of the entrance gate of Corbet National Park. Stay over night near Corbett, There are plenty of accommodation options.

12th April: You can take early morning safari and an evening safari and take the over night train back to Delhi.

13th April: Again, you will get a chance to do remaining site seeing in Delhi and head further to Agra in the evening, Stay over night in Agra

14th April: You can visit Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and other monuments around. Return back to Delhi (Stay overnight in Delhi)

15th April: Seems like your last day in north India so you can again visit some places in Delhi...

by any chance, i don't see that you can include Bagha Border in your itinerary. The itinerary i suggested is already quite hectic and I won't suggest you guys to just touch base these destinations....

If you are OK... you can include more places while traveling Agra such as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Deeg, Mathura etc..

If you will tell us more details like what time you are arriving at Delhi and what time you will be leaving we may be able to help you in much better way....

hmmm Vishnu.Crisp, short but hectic itinerary that.But I have an alternate for Premila, which cud be less hectic and equally enjoyable, possibly.It runs like this:

Day 1 and Day 2:See the places in Delhi which Vishnu has stated hereinabove.If facing time constraint,u may skip some but not the Red Fort,Qutab Minar,Old Fort,Humayuns Tomb,Akshardham and Lotus Temples.There is a sound-and-light show at the Red Fort starting in the evening on a daily basis which is a must-see for all, and for seeing this its better u book ur hotel in the vicinity of the area (like Paharganj etc).I have seen the show many a time.

Day 3:U should have already booked a HPTDC (Himachal Pradesh Tourist Development Corporation Ltd.)volvo coach from Delhi to Dharamshala, which leaves Delhi in the evenings.Alternatey, volvo coaches of private agencies is also amply available.Next morning before 9am u should be at Dharamshala, but u must choose ur place of stay at McLeodganj and not at Dharamshala for better views.McLeodganj is just a few kilometres away from Dharamshala.There's the Dhauladhar mountain range, the Bhagsunath waterfalls,Dalai Lama's residence,Tibetan monastery,Naddi village etc. etc. to see here.

Day 4:An early morning start from McLeodganj will take u to Manali by evening, where u should halt for the night at some of the budget hotels where u should have booked ur stay in advance.Buses and private vehicles from McLeodganj/Dharamshala to Manali are few, and u should take whatever is avaiable to u.

Day 5 and Day 6:An early morning 7am start in a private taxi (for which u must have made previous arrangements the previous day on reaching Manali)will take u to Rohtang Pass by afternoon.It is a one way road at Rohtang, so a 6am early morning start is preferable so as to b on the safe side of reaching there.Rohtang is one of the best places of this trip.By evening, u r back in ur hotel.Next morning,an early morning start around 9am will take u to and fro to Kulu, which tho is not the best of places, and u may as well afford to miss out on this leg of ur trip.Instead,u cud relax and see the local places of Manali like Hadimba Temple etc.

Day 6 (or Day 7) and Day 7(or Day :An 8am start from Manali by delux bus of HPTDC takes u to Shimla by evening where u lodge for the night.U must have made ur hotel bookings here in advance, preferable in and around the Shimla Mall.U can spend the entire night roaming the Shimla Mall which is a tourist highlight and remains open the entire night during season (April-end onwards). An early start next morning can take u back and fro by private taxi to places like Chail,Fagu,Naldhera etc.Alternately, if faced with no time constraint, u may choose to stay for the night at Fagu or Naldhera.Chail is a heritage spot, and is pretty costly there, and hence can be used as a day-time picnic spot.

Day 9: An early morning 8am start from Shimla leaves u at Chandigarh by late afternoon, where u may choose to stay for the night.Time permitting, next day u can see places like Rock Garden,Rose Garden and a picnic-park (I forget the name now lol) in and around Chandigarh.

Day 11:Chandigarh is just a few hours from Delhi, and u will reach Delhi in no time.

From the above itinerary, u may skip the Dharamshala/McLeodganj,Kulu and Chandigarh segments at ur comfort, but Manali,Rohtang and Shimla are a must.U should be able to do Delhi,Manai,Rohtang,Shimla and Chail in the 8 days u have in mind for ur trip.We did the itinerary I have proposed to u, but since it was in May-June, the Chandigarh part may have been avoided due to the heat.But readers who have a few more days in hand are advised to include Dalhousie and Khajjiar in the itinerary, after excluding Chandigarh.
